What are Stretch Marks ?
Stretch marks (striae distensae) are streak-like scars that appear when the skin stretches or shrinks too quickly, causing damage to its structural components. They commonly develop on areas like the abdomen, thighs, hips, breasts, and arms due to pregnancy, weight fluctuations, growth spurts, or hormonal changes.
Why do stretch marks appear ?
Stretch marks are formed when there is an over stretching of our skin which disrupts the collagen and elastin fibres leading to thin scar like tissue.
Is medical treatment the only treatment available for stretch marks?
Medical treatment can reduce the stretch marks but they cannot completely erase them since stretch marks are a form of scar tissue caused by collagen and elastin breakdown, treatments should focus on stimulating new collagen production and improving skin texture.
Which are the different treatments available at our DEREMT clinic?
1. Laser Resurfacing
The laser light mainly is absorbed by the water in the tissue which removes the scared tissue and flattens and resurfaces the scar. This is a session based treatment and can take around 6-8 sessions to show complete results at our clinic in Ahmedabad.
2. Microneedling and Radiofrequency
Microneedling with Radiofrequency (MNRF) is a highly effective treatment for stretch marks, working by stimulating collagen and elastin production to improve skin texture and elasticity. It’s especially beneficial for both red and white stretch marks.
3. Excimer Laser Therapy
Excimer laser is a very advance technology present at our clinic in Ahmedabad. The Excimer Laser (308 nm) is a non-ablative laser treatment primarily used for re-pigmenting stretch marks, especially in lighter mature stretch marks. It works by stimulating melanin production, helping the stretch marks blend more naturally with the surrounding skin.
4. Radiofrequency
Radiofrequency is a non-invasive technique which increases the formation of collagen and elastin. . It is especially effective for improving skin texture, tightening loose skin, and making stretch marks less visible.
5. Chemical peels
Chemical peel help with stretch marks by exfoliating the skin , promoting cell turnover , and stimulating collagen production and lightning the stretch marks.
6. LED therapy for stretch marks
LED therapy is a completely non-invasive therapy , safe for all skin types , enhancing results with other treatments such as microneedling , chemical peel abnd lasers
7. PRP
